Devblog 9

Intro

Welcome to our 9th and final devlog. We’ll talk about what we’ve been doing for the past 3 weeks, since we were so busy with our end term finals. Tomorrow we will have to present our game in front of the jury (fingers crossed :D).

Preparing the presentation

This semester long project is concluded with a presentation in front of a jury. We had to explain who we are and what we have been doing all semester, explain how the game works, show our trailer and give a little demo of the game. They told us to imagine if the teachers and jury were investors, and we would have to sell our game to them.

You can find the whole presentation on the end of this blogpost.

Playtesting

We played our game very thoroughly to find any bugs, and to gather some intensive footage to make the trailer.

Bugfixes

Yeah, you sort of saw this coming right, inevitably after playtesting we had some bugs to fix. Most prominent were the ones where you could “dispose” of interactables by simply shoving the out of the level bounds.

  • We also made the supervisor less dumb
  • We gave the camera a patch up
  • Fixed collision boxes (for the interactables).
  • Made sure all the particles showed up whenever they had to
  • Allowed the player to play with the same character the next round after (to let him enjoy his sweet sweet victory)
  • (so much more that I’m forgetting here but there's only a dedicated amount of brain cells for remembering these kinds of things.)

Trailer

Oh boy this is a fun one, don’t you just love it when you see a good trailer. Game trailers just give you a general overview on what you are about to spend your precious moolas on, they make you buy the game basically. So with that approach in mind we went ahead and made ours. Not to over exaggerate here but we truly believe that our trailer is awesome (so don’t break our hearts by saying that it isn’t :3).

The trailer starts with some very slow shots of the level and then gradually … I’m going to stop right here and let you experience the rest for yourself.

Outro

So that concludes our semester long epic journey. We all had a blast working on this project, and we are very happy with the end result. This was a unique experience and the first time we had the chance to work in a group on something. We wanna thank you for tuning in every week to read about our progress, the teachers for guiding us and everyone of our little team for this fun times we had working on this project!

ps: If you really were reading this every week, i’m tipping my fedora for you good sir/gal. *dabs frantically on da haterzz*
